about

This track is a hodgepodge of test takes using a build of 4M's Noise Swash. It includes vocal, guitar, trumpet, drum machine, and layered DI processing.

The photograph for this track is also worth mentioning. All of the album art for Duke Brunch/Apparatus comes from our Habitat for Humanity Trip to New Orleans in March of 2007. This particular photo was especially captivating, as it is a closeup of the kitchen wall of a house in the lower 9th Ward, hit by Hurricane Katrina. Below this little plaque was an overturned fridge, a wash of belongings, mud, toxic waste, a clothes drying machine, shards of cabinets and glass, pieces of the roof, and mold. This small plaque was the only thing that remained in its original place in the kitchen, and it exhibits a very powerful juxtaposition about the moods felt in the demolition crews that worked there and disposition about the dejected populations who lived in these neighborhoods. After considerable deliberation, it has been included here as a reminder and deliberate "fuck you" to FEMA, the Bush Administration, and local New Orleans authorities whose neglect, stupidity, racism, and greed destroyed the lives of hundreds of people who will never be repaid.
